Getting Around Hoffman Estates

Bicycling in Hoffman Estates
The Village adopted its first Comprehensive Bicycle Plan and Map in 2010.  This process took several years and included input from area bicycle experts, staff, and most importantly, residents and users of current Hoffman Estates bicycle facilities. The Village most recently installed 18 miles of bicycle and pedestrian route signage with the Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW) grant provided by Recovery Act (ARRA) funds. Thanks to the CPPW grant, over 50% of planned bicycle facilities in the Village are now complete!

The Village was recently awarded an Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) grant of $676,000 to construct an undercrossing of I-90, paralell to the CN railroad tracks on the west side of the Village. Upgrades in pedestrian accessibility at the rail crossing along Shoe Factory Road were completed in 2012, and will coordinate with other planned improvements to the gravel path and other connections to the proposed tollway undercrossing. For more information about the ITEP project, visit the Village's Transportation Bikes webpage.
