Water Billing Service and Inquiries

PLEASE NOTE: An Account Activation Form is required to open a new water utility account with the Village. The purpose of this form is to protect our customers from identity theft.

For questions about your water usage, bill amount, or final water bill, please call Water Billing at 847-843-4824, or email utility.billing@hoffmanestates.org.

For questions regarding water quality or service problems, please call Public Works at (847) 490-6800. Residents can also email Public Works at PublicWorks@hoffmanestates.org.

Attention credit & debit card users:

Effective September 1, 2018, the Village is passing along processing fees charged by credit and debit card companies to customers.  The processing fees are 2.38% for credit/debit card payments or $1 for e-check payments. These fees will apply to all credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover) and e-check payments EXCEPT FOR over-the-front counter utility bill credit card payments and recurring utility bill payments.

How to pay a bill:

 Application for Auto Payment (ACH)

To pay by credit card: Residents can now choose automatic drafts on a credit card, in addition to the current option of automatic drafts from a bank account, by calling 855-270-3592.

To pay in person: Please bring your notice to the Village of Hoffman Estates, 1900 Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169. Office hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to noon.

To pay by phone: The Village has a pay-by-phone system that allows electronic payment of utility bills, tickets and
miscellaneous items. This bill payment system accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and electronic check. To make a utility bill (water and solid waste ONLY) payment by phone, call 866-705-9084. For all other payments, call 877-470-6344. A live agent call center is also available Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., call 855-270-3592.

To pay by internet: 

• Pay utility bill online using self-service portal 
• Pay utility bill online using eGovPlus system
• You may also choose to utilize online banking to pay your water bill. If you choose this option, you must check with your bank to see if they offer bill-pay online.

To pay by mail: Mail your notice along with a check or money order payable to the Village of Hoffman Estates, 1900 Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169. Please do NOT send cash.

RATES:
Effective from and after bills issued January 1, 2022

Base Rate for commercial/industrial, apartments, institutional/governmental varies by line size. Total charge for water and sewer is equal to the Base Rate charge plus consumption charge (per Village of Hoffman Estates Municipal Code, Chapter 12, Article 4).

Water/wastewater assistance program available to low income households

The Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) assists customers experiencing economic hardship with water and wastewater utility bills. The program offers one-time assistance with water/sewer reconnection, disconnection prevention, past due balances, disconnection fees, or late fees. LIHWAP assistance is available through September 31, 2023, or until funds are exhausted. For more information on LIHWAP and other assistance programs, visit helpillinoisfamilies.com.
