Right-of-Way Permits
No person shall construct any facility on, over, above, along, upon, under, across, or within any Village right-of-way without applying for a Right-of-Way permit from the Public Works Department. Contact the Public Works Department to begin the Right-of-Way permit application process.

Landscaping Within the Village Rights-of-Way
The Village's municipal code prohibits fences, shrubbery, hedging or other landscape improvement (exclusive of flowers) within the right-of-way which when mature would interfere with traffic sight visibility.  Placing an obstruction within the right-of-way is also prohibited i.e., masonry mailboxes as well as landscape boulders, yard lights and basketball hoops.

The Village right-of-way extends approximately 19.5 feet beyond the back of the curb to the homeowners property line.  Landscape improvements may be established anywhere within the owners property as long as it does not interfere with existing grades and swales and does not require any special permitting.

The Village maintains all of the parkway trees. New trees are planted through the Forestry division.  Trees are inspected and trimmed as needed.  New trees are planted based on a number of criteria including spacing, size and species.  Per Village ordinance, residents must obtain approval from the Public Works Department prior to planting any trees in the parkway.

The Village will not be responsible for replacing any perennial/annual flower installation within the rights-of-way which may be damaged from snow  ice control operations. Installations found not to be in compliance with Village Code will be required to be removed at the property owners expense.  Property owners will be notified of violation by the Property Maintenance Division.
