Abandoned Vehicle Report Criteria

Note: A vehicle may be reported as abandoned if it meets either the public street or private street criteria.

PUBLIC STREET

1. The vehicle is inoperable and

2. The vehicle has no valid license plate or temporary registration sticker and

3. The vehicle is unmoved over 72 hours

PRIVATE PROPERTY

1. The vehicle is inoperable and

2. The vehicle has no valid license plate or temporary registration sticker and

3. The vehicle has been left on private property without consent of the property owner and

4. The vehicle remains unmoved over 72 hours.

After we receive your report and confirm the information, a tow sticker is placed on the vehicle and owner contact is made to inform them of the complaint and village ordinance. A certified letter is also sent to the owner informing them of the complaint. After 7 days of the owner’s receipt of the letter, the vehicle is towed if it remains unmoved.
