The Village of Hoffman Estates, in partnership with the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC), is hosting its free annual recycling drop-off and document destruction event on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 9 a.m. until noon at Village Hall, 1900 Hassell Rd. - Computers (Desktops, Notebooks, Tablets)

- Portable Digital Assistants (PDAs)
- Printers (Multi-function Printers)
- Satellite Receivers
- Scanners
- Televisions (All Types)
- Video Game Consoles
- Video Recorders/Players
- Zip Drives
How to prepare for a Document Destruction event:
- Paper must be dry, clean, and loose
- Remove metal clips, plastic sleeves, folders, and binders (small staples are okay)
- Place paper in paper shopping bags or cardboard boxes - NO PLASTIC BAGS - please!
- Limited to six (6) bags or boxes
Residents should remain in their vehicles while attending this event, and workers will unload recyclables from your vehicle. Paper documents should be contained in paper bags or small cardboard boxes – not in plastic bags. If a resident has a variety of materials to recycle, please keep them separated in the back of the vehicle to ensure items are recycled properly. Accepted items include textiles, sharps, batteries, printer cartridges, and fluorescent light bulbs.
Additional services
In addition to electronics, the Village will accept the following items for recycling:
- Textiles and small household goods through Simple Recycling (new or used clothing; boots and shoes; belts and ties; handbags; hats and gloves; toys; towels; sheets and blankets; small kitchen appliances; and more)
- Expired sharps (expired medications can be dropped off in the special drop box in the lobby at the Police Department, 411 Higgins Rd.)
- Fluorescent and compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) light bulbs
- Batteries
- Printer cartridges
- Latex (water-based) paint:
- Quarts: $2.99
- One-gallon containers: $5.99
- Five-gallon buckets: $19.99
NOTE: flammable materials will not be accepted.
