Public Education

Overview

The Village of Hoffman Estates Fire Department believes that the best way to protect the residents of, and those visiting, Hoffman Estates is to teach them how to be safe. In line with this belief, the Fire Department has created this Public Education page for you to learn the “safety essentials” so that you can protect yourself, your family, and your community. But don’t worry, we will still be here when you need us.

Below are links to what we consider to be essential safety information. Included in this information are some courses that we offer to help build up your knowledge and skills for when your time comes to take action.

On this page, you will find the schedule for our available CPR classes, along with prices and locations.

On this page, you will find information about one of our favorite offerings, Citizen’s Fire Academy. This course is 10 weeks long and helps you builds a foundation of understanding for Fire Suppression and Safety.

  • First Responder Academy for Teens

The Hoffman Estates Fire and Police Departments are hosting a joint First Responder Academy for Teens. The goal of this program is to better understand each profession and encourage future careers in public service.

  • School Visits

There is no better way to guarantee our future than by educating our children. Because we believe this statement to be true, the Hoffman Estates Fire Department offers to go to your child’s school (from Pre-K to 4th grade) to educate your children some of the basics of Fire Safety.

  • Station Tours

Want to see the stations that your firefighter's live in? Click on this page to arrange a tour to any of our four fire stations.

  • Smoke Detectors and Carbon Monoxide Alarms

Having a smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarm is not only required but also one of the best ways to protect yourself, your family, and/or your property. On this page, we provide you some quick reference requirements to help you make the most of your alarms.

  • Events

As a Department, we are always looking for ways to engage the community while building a solid relationship. One way our Department does that is by hosting events. Check the "Events" link often to see our Department is hosting something soon.
