The Village of Hoffman Estates supports the International Code Council Foundations' (ICCF) Building Safety Month, which takes place this May.
In conjunction with "Coffee with the Board" on Saturday, April 16, the Code Enforcement Division will be available to answer questions on permits, home improvement projects, energy assessments, backflow prevention and property maintenance from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Village Hall, 1900 Hassell Road. Meet inspectors, pick up educational handouts and learn how to save up to 30 percent on your energy bills.
Additionally, Code Enforcement is sponsoring a building and safety contest for kids. Participants are asked to show the Village how they can be "green" where they live and play. Participants in grades fourth through sixth are asked to write an essay. Participants in grades first through third are asked to draw a picture. Participants in preschool and kindergarten are asked to color a picture that will be provided to them. Winners will be notified on Monday, April 11, and prizes will be awarded in each category at the Village Hall on Saturday, April 16, prior to "Coffee with the Board." Essays, pictures and projects will be displayed at the Village Hall from April 18 through April 29. The submission deadline is noon on Saturday, April 9. All essays and pictures should be dropped off at the Village Hall.
