The Youth Commission is pleased to offer two free "Project Alice" computer animation training classes for children of Hoffman Estates residents ages seven to 14. Both sessions will take place on Saturday, Feb. 26. The first session will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the second session will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Classes are held at the Village Hall, 1900 Hassell Road. Registration is required as space is limited to 10 students per session. To reserve a spot, or to be placed on a waiting list for upcoming classes, call 847-781-2606. A parent or guardian is required throughout the duration of the class. Light refreshments will be served. Project Alice is an innovative 3-D programming environment created at Carnegie Mellon University specifically to teach fundamental programming concepts to young children through animation. This program is used nationwide from elementary schools through top universities to introduce vital computer programming skills in a natural and fun way.
