In recent years, there has been increasing acknowledgement of the important role mental health plays in overall wellness. Depression is one of the leading causes of disability. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among 15-29-year-olds according to the World Health Organization. September is National Suicide Prevention Month. All month, mental health advocates, prevention organizations, survivors, allies, and community members unite to promote suicide prevention awareness. Join the Youth Commission as we bring awareness to mental health and suicide prevention with our Mental Health Kit Giveaway Drive. On Saturday September 25th from 11am-1pm, stop by the Village Hall parking lot to pick up your kit. The kit includes information on mental health resources and plenty of fun giveaways to promote relaxation, creativity, and stress relief. Kits will be geared for families with children of all ages. Supplies are limited, so please call 847-781-4850 to sign up to be placed on the list to receive a kit. Let’s come together as a community of support and hope. If you or someone you know is struggling, the National Suicide Prevention Hotline can help: 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
