A free, family-friendly event, Plant Your Park, cohosted by the Hoffman Estates Park District and the Village of Hoffman Estates, will take place at Highpoint Park, 1740 Glen Lake Road, on Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Highpoint Park will be renamed Joseph L. Fabbrini Park after one of the founding Park District Commissioners.
In addition, Alexian Brothers Health System will concurrently hold its 11th annual Walk and Community Playdate for Postpartum Depression Prevention and Awareness at the park. Sign-in starts at 9 a.m., and a scenic walk around the park kicks off at 10 a.m. Strollers are welcome.
The dedication ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. There will be 26 trees planted, thanks to an Eco-Skies grant from the United Airlines Foundation. Other fun outdoor activities are planned as well, including a climbing wall, playground rake out, plantings, crafts and an on-land paddle board demonstration and lesson. Representatives from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) and Village commissions will be providing information to residents, and every resident who rides their bike to the event will receive a free one-day pass to Seascape Family Aquatic Center.
