On Saturday, Feb. 22, "About Boating Safely" will be taught at the Cabela's Sporting Goods Store at 5225 Prairie Stone Parkway in Hoffman Estates. It is the most popular boating class in America. This one-day introductory class discusses state requirements, routine operations and recognition of safety issues. In the state of Illinois, younger boaters, aged 12-17, are required by law to take a boating class to operate a vessel alone. Successful completion of "About Boating Safely" earns the required certificate.
The course fee is $40. Lunch is not included in the fee, so students should plan accordingly. The class starts at 8:30 a.m. and concludes by 5 p.m. Hill, who has taught hundreds of students throughout the suburbs in the last five years, teaches this class with other highly experienced boaters. To sign up for the class, call 1-630-621-5544.
"Boaters who take the class will have fun and learn a lot," stated Hill. Hill noted the post-course evaluation forms are overwhelmingly positive. Students from 12 to 62 years of age leave the class feeling good about their abilities and about recreational boating. What better way to enjoy boating than to take a course and say "anchors away" in spring and summer 2014?
