The Hoffman Estates Police Department is a contributing agency to the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS).  The department submits crime data which serves as a tool to provide greater transparency.    The Illinois State Police hosts a website which is accessible by the public.  Features of the website includes: Crime in Illinois Reports, Interactive Mapping, News, FAQs, and an online Help feature.

Crime in Illinois Online

The Crime Map is located on the NIBRS public portal menu. This interactive crime map is searchable for a specific geographical location. It also allows the user to search for specific crime types.  The data reported to this site is updated in near real-time.  The information displayed will reflect where the crime was reported versus where the crime occurred.  Any open or active investigation would not be included in these reports. The information represents only police services where a report was made and does not include other calls of police service.

The crime data represents general information of incidents based on the FBI's National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS).  Preliminary crime classifications may be changed at a later date based on further investigation.  Users should not rely on nor make decisions or comparisons based solely on the data offered on this website; but should conduct additional independent verification and due diligence.
