Martin Luther King, Jr. Annual Breakfast

Sponsored by the Village of Hoffman Estates Cultural Awareness Commission

I forgot to mention we will be showing a documentary, if anyone wants to come early starting at 7:30AM. The title of the file is “I AM MLK”.

The Cultural Awareness Commission cordially invites you to celebrate its 17th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast on Monday, Jan. 21. This free, joyful event will begin promptly at 8 a.m. with breakfast in the Ed & Mary Hennessy Room at the Village Hall. Also, new this year, there will be a documentary entitled "I AM MLK" beginning at 7:30 am.  All invitees are welcome to view this film.

This year's theme is "Service." A special keynote address will be given by Traci D. Ellis, an attorney, human resources professional, and diversity and inclusion champion. An intrepid activist, Ms. Ellis is a published author who engages audiences to think more deeply on social justice issues relating to poverty, racism, criminal justice and educational equity.

Entertainment will also be provided. Michael and Vikki Myers from Kingdom Impact Theater Ministries will present "Strolling Down MLK Street." A musical performance from Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, featuring soloist Viola Collins-Brown, will also take place.

Seating is very limited, and reservations are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a limit of four persons per reservation. Reservations are being accepted through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, or until the event is full. To reserve your spot today, call Sue at 847-781-2606.

Please bring a non-perishable food item, paper goods, toiletries, or new hats and gloves to help restock our community food pantries for the winter.

We hope you will be able to attend this uplifting celebration. We will also post pictures on our Facebook page after the event!
